Indians Season Ends at Carver-Columbus
The top-ranked and defending state champion Carver-Columbus Tigers ran their winning streak to 25 straight games defeating Stephens County 56-0 in the 2nd round of the AA state playoffs Friday night in Columbus.
The Tigers scored twice in the opening quarter on a 1-yard touchdown run by Zach Watts and a 60-yard interception return for a touchdown by Steve Wright to take a 14-0 lead.
The Tigers added to the lead in the 2nd quarter on a 45-yard touchdown run by Kobe Caslin, an 8-yard run by Kelston Tarver, and a Sebastian Heard to TJ Woodson 51-yard touchdown pass for a 35-0 halftime lead.
Watts, who is already receiving major college offers as a freshman, scored again on a 35-yard run and Tarver scored his 2nd touchdown on a run of 62 yards in the 3rd quarter.
The Tigers added a final score in the 4th with Heard and Woodson connecting again this time from 32 yards.
Carver-Columbus has now outscored their playoff opponents 112-0 and will host Thomson next week.
Duke Collins had an interception for the Indians.
Stephens County’s season ends with a record of 6-6.
It was the final high school game for 10 Indians seniors: Da’ Von Swinton, Findley Ward, Zykemian Durham, Eli St Clair, Luke Waters, Lavontae Brown, Luke Sosebee, Daniel Berrios, Connor Holtzclaw, and Kevin Waldrup, Jr.
