Indians Ride Huge 4th Quarter to Win at Franklin

The Stephens County Indians boys basketball team trailed by as many as 13 points in the 2nd half, but outscored Franklin County 22-8 in the 4th quarter and picked up an exciting rivalry road win 67-59 Friday night in the Lions Den in Carnesville.

The Indians trailed much of the game, but grabbed the lead and rode a stifling defense to victory.

Nigel Green led all scorers with 22 points, and Ty and Takias Nails combined for 23 to lead the Indians.

Franklin County’s Titus Brown and Carter Alexander scored 12 each to lead the Lions.

The Indians improved their record to 4-2. It was Franklin County’s first loss and they are now 3-1.

In the girls contest, Franklin County outscored Stephens County 18-3 in the 2nd quarter and defeated the Lady Indians 52-38.

The Lady Lions got 18 points from Bailee Aderholdt and 15 from Lexi Spencer.

Stephens County’s Ranajah Verdell reached double figures with 15 points.

The Lady Indians fall to 1-4. Franklin County improves to 5-1.

Stephens County’s next games will be Friday when they travel to Banks County. Airtime before the girls game is set for 5:45 P.M. on WNEG.
