Indians Preparing for Opener This Friday

The Stephens County Indians Football team held an intra-squad pre-season scrimmage on Friday as part of the Red Rage Pep Rally.

Stephens County Football coach Wesley Tankersley says it was good to see the things to improve. “It was a good night, obviously, it is a scrimmage so there are mistakes. We will review the film and get ready for White County.”

Tankersley says it has been an unusual pre-season, but the team has worked hard to get ready for the season. “ It has been a challenge in a lot of different ways. We haven’t been able to hit the weight room the way we wanted because of all of the time off, but we met with the guys on zoom consistently during the pre-season and tried to hold them accountable for doing the work at home. They have done everything that we have asked them and more. We are really proud of them. Hopefully, you will see the fruition of that hard work this week.”

The Indians regular season begins this Friday at White County in Cleveland. Airtime on 93.1 FM and AM-630 WNEG, as well as on wnegradio.com and on the free WNEG app will begin at 6:30 P.M. with the Indians Road Show. Kickoff is set for 7:30 P.M.
