Indians Open Region Play Tonight
After having last Friday off, the Stephens County Indians will be back in action tonight as they host Monroe Area at The Reservation for their first game on the Region 8-AAA schedule. Both teams will enter the game with perfect 5 & 0 records. The Indians are coming off a big win 2 weeks ago at Habersham Central, 35 to 18. Monroe Area played last Friday against Lakeside of Evans and won 38 to10. Kickoff tonight will be at 7:30.
93.1 FM & AM-630 WNEG will begin our coverage tonight with the Indian Tailgate Show at 5:30, followed by Coach’s Corner at 7, and pre-game at 7:15. You can also listen online at wnegradio.com and on the free WNEG Radio app.
Tonight is homecoming which will include special pre-game festivities and the crowning of the homecoming queen at halftime.
Tonight is also the 50th Reunion of the 1971 Stephens County Indians Football Team. All members of the team are asked to meet at the “Band of Brothers” tent near the teepee at 5 p.m.
In other Region 8-AAA games tonight: Franklin County will host Hart County and Oconee County will host East Jackson.
Looking elsewhere around the area this evening, Habersham Central will play at Buford, Madison County will host Cedar Shoals, Rabun County makes a long road trip to Pierce County. White County will travel to North Hall, and Commerce will be on the road at Green County. Banks County has the night off.
