Indians-Lions Split Doubleheader

 

Stephens County and Franklin County split a double-header Friday night at the Reservation.

In the first game, Jordan Page went the distance, only allowing four hits as the Indians came from behind to beat the Lions 4-2. Franklin County’s Hunter Quarles and A.J. Peeples drove in runs to give the Lions a 2-0 lead through five innings.

The Indians come-back began in the bottom of the sixth inning. A single and two walks loaded the bases. Eli Wenger singled in the first run. With the bases still loaded, Ridge Adams hit a fly ball to left field was dropped allowing three runs to score.

Lawson Gailey pitched the first four innings for the Lions, allowing just two hits and striking out six, but was not involved in the final decision. Garrett Garner entered in the fifth inning and Mike Miller finished out the game.

The Lions evened up the series in the second game by crushing the Indians 20-1 in six innings. Franklin County scored two runs in the second inning, eight runs in the third inning, five more in the fourth and five more in the fifth.

Each team used four pitchers in the second contest. Ian Rumsey, Ayden Garmen, Chubba Rousch and Issac McCollum all pitched for the Indians. Mike Miller, Tyler Smith, Seth Holcomb and Wyatt Lutz all went to the mound for the Lions.

Each team is now 5-5 on the season.

Stephens County will be on the road today at Cedar Shoals. Game time is 5:55 P.M. with air time on WNEG set for 5:45 P.M.
