Indians Host Buford On Senior Night at Reservation

Stephens County will wrap up the regular season at home tonight against a nationally ranked opponent.

Buford visits the Reservation tonight to take on Stephens County.

The Indians come into the game 7-2 overall and 5-1 in Region 8-AAAA after losing in overtime last week to North Oconee, 21-14.

Meanwhile, Buford is 9-0 overall and 6-0 in the region after beating Madison County last week 44-0.

The Wolves have won six of seven state championships at either the AA and AAA level and are ranked 12th nationally by USA Today, having won more than 30 games in a row.

Stephens County Defensive Line Coach Kirk Rogers said the Indians are ready to test themselves against the top-ranked team in Class AAAA football in Georgia.

“What a great opportunity is what we have been talking about, to measure up and play against someone like Buford,” said Rogers. “They have set the bar high for many years and we are anxious to go up against them.”

With a win tonight, the Indians would clinch a share of the Region 8-AAAA title.

Kick-off tonight at the Reservation is set for 7:30 p.m.

It is Senior Night and also, the community is encouraged to “paint the town red and black” with yard signs or red and black ribbons for tonight’s game.
