Indians Hold Off Pesky Titans

Kenny Colwell scored 22 points, including 14 in the 1st half, to lead the Stephens County Indians boys basketball team to a 57-49 victory over North Oconee Tuesday night at Currahee Arena.

The Indians never trailed in the game, but could never extend the lead to double digits.

Ty and Takius Nails added 12 points each for the Indians as they improve to 3-1 in Region-8 AAAA play and 13-6 overall.

Wes Wilson had 14 points to lead North Oconee now 0-4 in the Region and 4-16 overall.

In the girls game, the Stephens County Lady Indians made a valiant comeback in the 4th quarter trimming a 20 point lead down to 6, but could get no closer as North Oconee defeated the Lady Indians 47-36.

Renajah Verdell had 12 points and NaNa Eades 11 to lead Stephens County. Tatum Thompson had 16 to lead North Oconee.

The Lady indians fall to 1-3 in Region-8 AAAA and 5-13 overall. North oconee improves to 3-1 in the region and 12-8 overall.

Both Stephens County teams return to the hardwood on Friday night when they travel to Danielsville to face Madison County. Airtime is set for 6:45 P.M. on WNEG.
