Indians Hold Baseball Banquet

The Stephens County Indians baseball program held the banquet on Thursday.

The Varsity and Junior Varsity programs were recognized. The following players received awards:

Most Valuable Player and Best Overall Offense-Davis Swenson
Indian Award (with recognition of all 4 years)- Dawson Sorrells
Best Defense Award-Cole Snyder
Coach’s Award- Josh Henshaw
Scholar Athlete Award- Davis Swenson (Varsity and a member of the Region-8 AAAA all-academic team) and Seth Jameson (JV)
Rising Indian Award-Jacob Pruitt

Stephens County Head Baseball Coach Greg McCall says the banquet is important to wrap up the season. “Anytime you can gather together the parents and players for a successful season in our program it is always very rewarding. The big thing about this banquet is recognizing the seven seniors and their contributions throughout the years and also recognize a few others for their extraordinary efforts this season. It has been a great year. I enjoyed working with these young men and the sky’s the limit for some of the young guys. The older guys set the standard for what we need to continue.”

The Indians senior class reached 60 wins in their three years of varsity play and each senior received Senior Award framed pictures. The seven seniors included: Carson Brock, Aaron Chappelear, Ben Hobbs, Cayden Maxwell, Dawson Sorrells, Davis Swenson, and Gabe White.

Maxwell, Sorrells, and Swenson were also presented the Team Captains Award and each will represent Stephens County in the Georgia/South Carolina F.C.A. All-Star game at Southern Wesleyan University on June 6th. WNEG will broadcast that game live with airtime scheduled for 6:45 P.M.
