Indians Get Huge Win at Hart County
The Stephens County Indians picked up a huge road win on Friday night with a 21-10 win over rival Hart County at Herndon Stadium in Hartwell.
The Indians never trailed in the game. After a scoreless 1st quarter, Stephens County got on the board with a 53-yard touchdown pass from Branson Stowe to Da’Von Swinton.
Hart County cut the lead to 7-3 on a 36-yard field goal, but the Indians then took advantage of a fumbled punt and Dallas Hague followed with an 8-yard touchdown run to give the Indians a 14-3 halftime lead.
The Indians extended the lead in the 3rd quarter with a fake punt, Hague run down to the 1, and Morris Perkins touchdown to make it 21-3.
The Indians’ defense was outstanding throughout forcing four turnovers and a blocked punt. Isaiah Arthur had an interception and fumble recovery for the Indians, Isiah Patterson added an interception, and Zy Durham had a fumble recovery.
Hart County’s Faustino Rangle scored on a 1-yard run with under 5 minutes to play for the final tally.
Stephens County improves to 2-2 in region-8 AA play and 4-5 overall. Hart County falls to 3-6 overall and 2-2 in the region.
It was the Indians 4th straight win over the Bulldogs.
Indians Coach Thomas Flowers was happy following the game.
Stephens County will wrap up the regular season next Friday night on senior night when they host East Jackson. Hart County will face Franklin County.
