Indians Football Begins Tonight

The Stephens County Indians football team kicks off their season tonight as they play the Franklin County Lions at the Reservation.

Indian Defensive Coordinator Roger Gentry was our guest on the “Crunch Time” radio show last night, and he said even though Franklin County lost their season opener at White County last week, he expects them to come in ready to play:

“I think, especially when Stephens County plays Franklin County, let’s just throw the loss for them out the window because it’s a rivalry and everybody’s going to play hard,” said Gentry. “What we’re telling our kids is we don’t want to be on a high, we don’t want to be on a low, we want to be in the middle, just be consistent with what we do. I think Franklin County will come in here and play hard. I look for them to give us a good challenge.”

In addition to Stephens County-Franklin County, other games on tonight’s schedule include:  Madison County to host Jackson County, Banks County hosting Commerce, White County hosting Lumpkin County, Rabun County hosting Mt. Pisgah Christian and Elbert County hosting Washington-Wilkes.

Other area games include: Gainesville at Alpharetta, Flowery Branch at North Hall, West Hall host Johnson of Gainesville, Jefferson at Riverwood, North Oconee host Grovetown, East Hall at Chestatee.

The new 93.1FM and AM630 WNEG will have live coverage of the game beginning at 5:30 p.m. with the tailgate show followed by coach’s corner at 7, pre-game at 7:15 and kick off at 7:30.
