Indians Fall to Oconee County

It was definitely Friday the 13th for the Stephens County Indians as Oconee County spoiled homecoming with a 35-10 victory over the Indians Friday night at the Reservation.

Oconee County scored on their first 3 possessions on two touchdown runs by Caiden Wood and a quarterback keeper by Titus Watkins. After a 23-yard Luke Waters field goal got the Indians on the board, Watkins took another one in from 6-yard to give the Warriors a 28-3 halftime lead.

After a scoreless 3rd quarter, Watkins started the 4th quarter with his 3rd touchdown of the game on a 9-yard run to extend the lead to 35-3 with the Indians finishing the scoring on a Javin Gordon 3-yard touchdown run for the Indians only touchdown.

The Indians were held to just 6 yards rushing on the night while Oconee County rolled up over 400 yards of total offense.

Following the game, Stephens County Head Coach Wesley Tankersley said that everyone has to be better.

Oconee County improves to 2-3. Stephens County suffers their 2nd straight loss and falls to 3-2. The Indians will be off next week and will begin region play on Friday, September 27th at Franklin County.

The 2024 Stephens County Homecoming Queen Maddison McGee was crowned at a halftime ceremony at the Homecoming game Friday evening. The 2024 Stephens County Homecoming King, Brock Tankersley, was crowned during the homecoming dance on Saturday evening.
