Indians Fall in Extra Inning to Titans

The Stephens County Indians baseball team battled with the Region-8 1st place team North Oconee on Tuesday, but fell 5-2 in 8 innings at the Reservation.

Stephens County got on the board in the bottom of the 2nd inning when Cole Snyder led off the inning with a walk, moved to third on Eli Wenger’s bunt single, and scored on a passed ball.

Garrett Paxson’s two-run home run in the top of the 5th inning gave North Oconee their first lead at 2-1, but the Indians battled back with a run in the bottom of the inning when Cayden Maxwell was hit by a pitch, moved to 2nd on Dawson Sorrells sacrifice bunt, and scored on Ridge Adams two-out single.

The game remained tied until the extra inning when North Oconee loaded the bases with 2 outs and used a walk, hit, and error to plate 3 runs.

Davis Swenson was again outstanding on the mound for the Indians going 6 innings and allowing 2 runs on 5 hits and striking out 9. Sorrells took the loss in relief to fall to 2-3 on the season. Rylan Laird got the win in relief for the Titans.

North Oconee improves to 6-1 in Region-8 play and 12-6 overall. Stephens County falls to 1-3 in the Region, and 11-9-1 overall.

The Indians will have to bounce back quickly if they want to get back in the Region race. The two teams will meet in Bogart on Thursday for a doubleheader beginning at 4 P.M. The games were originally scheduled for Friday, but moved due to potential rain. Airtime on WNEG will be at 3:45 P.M.
