Indians Drop Home Games to Raiders
The Habersham Central girls and boys won both ends of the “Battle of Currahee” on the hardwood Saturday night.
Habersham’s girls jumped out to 10-0 lead and led the rest of the way rolling to a 50-30 victory. Sadie Chambers led the Lady Raiders with 13 points and McKenzie King chipped in with 12 points.
The Lady Indians only managed two points in the first quarter. Lanesia Verdell led the Lady Indians with 11 points in the loss.
The Lady Indians record is now 6-8.
After crafting a four-point lead at the half, the Stephens County boys only scored 12 points in the second half to drop a 65-47 loss to the Habersham Central boys.
Senior Jake Mihalick led the Raiders with 16 points, Donovon Warren had 13 and Branson Smith added 11 points.
Colsen Ivey poured in 20 points for Stephens County while Jayden Haynie added 11 points.
Habersham Central’s boys are now 14-3 on the season while the Indians fall to 3-10.
The Indians boys’ and girls’ teams will start Region 8-AA action Tuesday evening in Carnesville against the Franklin County Lions. Gametime for the girls is 6 P.M. with airtime at 5:45 P.M. on WNEG.
