Indians Boys Get One Point Road Win

Ahmir Ivey’s free throw with less than a minute to play gave Stephens County the lead and tough defense down the stretch secured a 46-45 victory at Oglethorpe County on Tuesday night.

The Indians trailed by two late but Colsen Ivey’s 3-pointer regained the lead by one, and after a Patriots free throw and miss tied the score, Ahmir Ivey delivered with a rebound and go ahead foul shot.

Colsen Ivey led the Indians with 16 points on the night and Jayden Haynie added 8 points with 6 of those coming in the 4th quarter.

The Indians win broke a 6-game losing streak improving to 3-9 on the season.

Oglethorpe County was led by Isaiah Ross with 13 points and dropped their 6th straight falling to  2-9.

In the girls game, Oglethorpe County broke open a tight game at the half outscoring the Lady Indians 28-19 in the 2nd half to earn a 51-40 win.

Lanesia Verdell led the Lady Indians with 17 points. Stephens County falls to 6-7 on the season.

The Lady Patriots, now 5-7 on the season, were led by Elin Turner with 16 points and Marin Sampson with 14.

Both Stephens County teams will have another 11 days between games when they host Habersham Central on January 10th.
