Indians Boys Continue to Roll with Weekend Wins

Corey Richie’s 21 points helped the Stephens County Indians to a 61-53 win over the Oconee County Warriors Friday night at the Currahee Arena.

Stephens County led after the first quarter, 14-8, and maintained a lead throughout the game.
Oconee County cut a 12-point deficit down to 2 points in the fourth quarter, but the Indians prevailed to move to 2-0 in the region.

Trevor Oechsle led the Warriors with 18 points.

The Lady Warriors of Oconee County ran off a 17-1 lead to start the early game and cruised to a 66-25 win over the Stephens County Lady Indians Friday.

Tutiunna Tukes, My’Angel Carter and Carson Stowe each had five points for Stephens County-now 1-1 in region play. Macey Mathews led all scorers with 21 points for the Lady
Warriors.
The Stephens County Indians stepped out of region play and won a thriller Saturday at the Currahee Arena taking down the North Oconee Titans 65-62 in overtime.

Three players hit double figures in the victory. Corey Richie had 17
points, Javin Gordon had 14 and Cam Lacy chipped in with 12 points.

Khamari Brooks led the Titans with 19 points.

Stephens County’s record is now 9-6 on the season and they have won 7 of their last 8 games.

The Stephens County Lady Indians dropped a 65-34 decision to the Lady Titans in the early game.

Fayeth Ivester and Tytiunna Tukes both had 9 points in the loss.

The Lady Indians are now 3-13 on the season.

Both teams return to Region 8-AAA action Tuesday night as they host the Hart County Bulldogs at the Currahee Arena. Game time is set for 6 P.M. with airtime on WNEG scheduled for 5:45PM.
