Indian Football Opens Up Region Play Tonight

The Stephens County Indian football team will open up Region 8-AAAA play tonight at home.

Stephens County hosts North Hall tonight at the Reservation.

The Indians come into the game with a 2-1 record, while North Hall is 0-3 on the season.

Stephens County was off last week after beating Blue Ridge, South Carolina 28-0 back on September 12.

Meanwhile, North Hall did play last Friday night, falling to Carrollton on the road by a 46-10 score.

These two teams last played in 2011, a 39-14 Stephens County win, and the Indians have won the last two meetings between the schools.

Stephens County Cornerbacks Coach Rob Stowe said that North Hall is a team will try to run the ball a lot out of its wishbone offense.

“They are probably some of the hardest kids we will face as far as being physical,” said Stowe. “It is going to be a very physical game. I do not care what their record is. They play as hard as anybody we face and if our kids do not get down with low pads and leverage and take it to them, it could be tough for us.”

Tonight is a “Black-Out” at the Reservation and all fans are encouraged to wear black to the game.

Kick-off from the Reservation is set for 7:30 p.m.

Coverage begins at 5:30 p.m. on AM 630 WNEG with the Indian Tailgate Show. Coach’s Corner starts at 7 p.m. and pre-game coverage begins at 7:15 p.m.

In other Region 8-AAAA action tonight, Monroe Area visits Madison County and Chestatee is at North Oconee. Buford and White County are both off this week.

Elsewhere around the area tonight, Habersham Central visits Alpharetta, Franklin County heads on the road to face Banks County, and Hart County will face Elbert County in the Granite Bowl.
