Indian Boys Win Third Straight; Lady Indians Fall at Franklin Co.

The Indian boys’ basketball team uses a second half run to pull away and pick up its third straight win.

Stephens County outscored Franklin County 36-15 in the second half on the way to a 64-38 win in Carnesville Saturday.

Four Indians scored in double figures. Nunu Walker and Tay Jones each had 13 points and Chris Jones and Tyriq Combs each added 10 points.

Brooklon Wright scored nine points and Phoenix Roberts added eight for Franklin County.

The win moves Stephens County to 3-4 on the season.

Meanwhile, the Franklin County Lady Lions took over in the second quarter and pulled away to beat the Lady Indians 50-30 in the girls’ game Saturday.

Stephens County’s girls led by six after the first quarter but were outscored after that by a total of 42-16.

Emily Mote had eight points to lead Stephens County, while Mya Cleveland added seven.

Tiara Ellis and Bree Teasley each scored 14 points to lead Franklin County.

The loss drops the Lady Indians to 2-5 on the season.

Stephens County is back home Tuesday to host Madison County in a varsity doubleheader.

Tip-off Tuesday at the Currahee Arena is set for 6 p.m. for the girls’ game, with the boys’ game to follow.
