Indian Boys Fall in Region Quarters to Knights

The Stephens County Indian boys’ basketball season ends in the Region 8-AAAA quarterfinals.

Top-seeded Johnson used a big third quarter to pull away and beat the Indians Tuesday night at Johnson, 71-50.

Leading by seven at the half, Johnson outscored Stephens County 32-14 in the third quarter.

Tay Jones led Stephens County with 14 points and Deandre Singleton had 11 points.

Ty Cockfield had 28 points to lead Johnson. The Knights also got 19 points from Roderick English and 10 points from Andrew Sims.

The Indian boys end the season 8-18.

Meanwhile, Johnson is 25-0 and on to the region semi-finals to play North Hall, who beat Madison County by 10 points.

Tonight, it’s the girls’ region quarterfinals.

The Stephens County Lady Indians are seeded fifth and will play fourth seed Madison County at Buford High School at 6 p.m. tonight with the winner advancing to the region semi-finals and earning a berth in the state AAAA girls’ basketball tournament.
