Indian Boys Advance to Region 8-AAAA Quarterfinals

The Stephens County Indians led 19-9 after the first quarter and held North Oconee to just five points and no field goals in the second quarter to grab a 35-14 halftime lead on their way to a 73-51 win over the Titans Monday night in the Region 8-AAAA boys’ play-in game at the Currahee Arena.

Stephens County was led in scoring by Deandre Singleton who had 19 points, with 15 coming in the first half.

Chris Jones added 14 points for the Indians.

Stephens County’s boys are now 8-17 overall on the year and will advance to the Region 8-AAAA boys’ quarterfinals tonight against first place Johnson.

The last time Johnson and Stephens County met was just a week ago and the game went into double overtime with the undefeated Knights edging the Indians 54-46.

Tip-off for tonight’s boys’ quarterfinal game at Johnson High School between the Knights and Stephens County is set for 7:30 p.m.

Other boys’ quarterfinal games tonight pit Madison County against North Hall, White County versus Monroe Area, and Chestatee versus Buford.

Meanwhile, the girls’ region quarterfinals are also set as Monroe Area defeated Johnson 48-35 in the girls’ play-in game at the Currahee Arena Monday night.

The girls’ quarterfinals get underway on Wednesday.
