High Winds Cause Over 500 Residents to Lose Power

The rain may be over for a time but the saturated ground and windy conditions combined Wednesday to cause problems for some Hart EMC customers.

Residents in the Oak Valley Road area lost power Wednesday morning and according to Hart EMC spokesperson Keith Brown, a fallen tree was responsible.

“I do know we had a circuit out at the Anderson Hills Substation, but a guy I was talking to when you called told me a tree has fallen and it took out a main line,” he said.

About 530 residents on Oak Valley Road, Shorewood, Circle East, Harbert Valley, and Holly Springs Rd. were without power until about 11a Wednesday.

Another outage was also reported on East Silver Shoals Road, Suttles Road, Goff Drive and South River Trail where about 79 customers lost power.

By 6p Wednesday evening Hart EMC reported only two residences in that area were still without power.
