Hellenga elected Mayor of Toccoa, Jamieson Vice-Mayor for 2021

Toccoa City Commissioner Evan Hellenga elected Toccoa Mayor for 2021

Evan Hellenga has been elected to serve as Toccoa’s Mayor for calendar year 2021.

During the recent Toccoa City Commission meeting, Commissioner Gail Fry made a motion to elect Hellenga to the position, with Commissioner David Austin seconding the motion.

Hellenga thanked Mayor Terry Carter for his time as Mayor in 2020.

Following Hellenga’s election, Commissioner Jeanette Jamieson was elected to serve as Vice-Mayor in 2021.

Commissioner David Austin made a motion to elect Jamieson to the position, with Fry seconding the motion.

The commission also made appointments for City Manager, City Clerk, and City Chaplain. Billy Morse was reappointed to City Manger, Fredda Wheeler was reappointed to City Clerk, and Paul Garrison was reappointed to City Chaplain.

Mayor Hellenga then made appointments for several boards and committees.

Hellenga and Jamieson were appointed to the Humane Shelter Committee; Austin to the Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce; Hellenga to the Stephens County Development Authority; Carter to the Downtown Development Authority; Austin to the Georgia Mountains Regional Commission Board; Hellenga to the Airport Authority; Fry to the Stephens County Board of Health; Carter as the Historic Preservation Commission Liaison; Fry to the Keep Toccoa-Stephens County Beautiful Board; and Jamieson to the Rural Conservation and Development Council Board.
