HCSO brings home Top Honors at MADD Golden Shield Awards

On Thursday, June 25, the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) was named Agency of the Year at the 22nd-annual MADD Golden Shield Awards in Macon.
In addition, the HCSO brought home the following accolades:
- Third place in Agency DUI Hero.

- Deputy Holden Helcher and K9 Bane – second place in K9 Officer of the Year.
- Sgt. Phillip Young of the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic (HEAT) Unit – third place in Officer of the Year.

The MADD Golden Shield Awards, organized by Mothers Against Drunk Driving in partnership with the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety in Georgia, honor law enforcement officers, agencies, prosecutors, and community advocates for excellence in DUI enforcement, traffic safety, and victim support.
