HCHS Teacher and Toccoa resident out on bond, in drug rehab

A Hart County High School teacher and Toccoa resident charged with sexual assault and electronically furnishing obscene materials to a minor is out on bond in a drug rehab center.

Corinna Crumpton, 30, of Toccoa was charged January 4 by GBI agents and charged with sexual assault and electronically furnishing obscene materials to a minor, both felony charges.

GBI Agent in Charge Jesse Maddox said the crimes allegedly took place between August and December of 2021.

At a bond hearing January 7, Crumpton’s attorney told the court she had checked herself into a drug rehab center and was also undergoing grief counseling.

Crumpton’s husband, had died just before Christmas in Toccoa.

According to court records, Superior Court Judge Chris Phelps set Crumpton’s bond at $20,000 and as a condition of her bond ordered her to be immediately taken back to the drug rehab center in Dahlonega and to remain there until she finishes her program.

She was also ordered to surrender her passport because she has dual citizenship in Germany.

Judge Phelps also ordered Crumpton to have no contact with any child under the age of 18, other than the Defendant’s own children, under circumstances where she is supervised by a responsible adult.

Crumpton, who taught German at Hart County High School was also barred from having any contact with the students she taught during the 2021-2020 school year.

Hart County Charter School spokesman Grayson Williams said earlier Crumpton had been put on administrative leave after her arrest.

However, at their January meeting, the Hart County Board of Education approved Crumpton’s resignation effective January 31.

Additionally, Crumpton is banned from the five-county Northern Judicial Circuit, except for medical or legal obligations.

Maddox said the investigation into Crumpton’s alleged activities began in December of 2021 at the request of the Hartwell Police Department.
