Hazardous Weather Outlook

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Northeast Georgia and Upstate South Carolina. A powerful storm system will impact the region late Saturday into Sunday with severe thunderstorms expected. The main hazards will be damaging winds and tornadoes. A strong tornado cannot be ruled out. Gusty winds are also expected Saturday afternoon to Sunday morning ahead of the storms. Winds may gust up to 40-50 mph in the mountains with 30-40 mph gusts elsewhere. Locally heavy rain is also expected which may result in isolated minor/nuisance flooding, especially where multiple rounds of storms occur.
