Hart EMC Bracing for Power Outages Due to Florence

Hart EMC is making preparations for this weekend’s heavy rainfall from Florence.

Spokesman Keith Brown said Thursday they already have crews from other EMC’s around the State on stand-by should they need extra help with power outages.

“We’ve been in contact with our fellow EMC’s in Georgia and we’re all standing ready to help each other depending on what we or our neighboring co-ops may see. It’s all depending on the track. We’ve also been in contact with our contractors and it’s the same sort of set up,” he said. “Once we’re hopefully out of harm’s way we can release our contractors and fellow co-ops to go help others where they’re needed.”

Brown says if there isn’t too much damage in our area, then crews from Hart EMC will likely head up into the Carolinas to help with power outages there.

Meantime, Brown is encouraging customers here to remain calm should they experience a power outage.

“If there’s downed lines, don’t touch them, call us. We certainly want to get out as time permits to see what dangers are out there,” Brown said. “We will get there as quick as they can, just pray for patience. We certainly want to get the power back on as quick as we can.”
