Hart County Takes Junior Title

The Hart County Junior League baseball team has won the right to go to the State Tournament by defeating Toccoa 6-1 Monday night. Again, Toccoa outhit their opponent but couldn’t score enough runs.

Toccoa did get the first run of the game by loading the bases in the top of the third inning. Riley Parshall, who was the starting pitcher, then drove home Christian Hewitt. The Toccoa team did not score the rest of the game, leaving 13 men on base.

Hart County scored three runs in their half of the third on three hits. Two walks, a double by pitcher Lucas Fritz and a wild pitch produced three more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Riley Parshall pitched two and two thirds innings for Toccoa. He was followed by Christian Hewitt, Junior Waldrop, and Noah Holbrooks.

Lucas Fritz got the win for Hart County. He pitched five innings, gave up four hits and struck out seven.

Hart County now goes to the Junior League State Tournament July 19th which will be held at Prince Avenue Christian in Bogart, Ga. Hart County’s first opponent will be Rockmart.

WNEG’s next Little League broadcast will be Sunday afternoon at 1 P.M. when the Toccoa 11U team faces the winner of Smyrna and Northern of Columbus in the state tournament in Dudley.
