Hart County beats Stephens County in Varsity Basketball

In Stephens County High School varsity basketball, the Hart County girls’ and boys’ basketball teams won both ends of a Region 8-AA double-header on Tuesday evening, February 10, at the Currahee Arena.
Jaycee Wiley scored 14 points for the Lady Bulldogs as they defeated the Stephens County Lady Indians, 63-33. Sarai Shealer had 11 points for Hart County, and Kaisia Montgomery scored 10 points. Nesi Verdal and Ivey Jackson both had 11 points for the Lady Indians.
Stephens County girls are now 8-15 on the season and 2-7 in the region.
The Hart County boys jumped out to a 14-0 run to start their game and cruised to a 83-52 win over the Stephens County boys. Hart County hit 9 three-point shots in the first half to gain a 54-17 lead at the half.
The Bulldogs were led by Zaylen Shealer with 20 points, followed by Kurston Curry with 17, and Remarrcus Simpson with 10.
Colsen Ivey was the top scorer for Stephens County with 16 points. Jaden Haynie contributed 11 points.
The loss dropped the Indians to 4-20 with a region record of 1-8.
The next Stephens County High School varsity basketball game is Friday night in Athens against the Prince Avenue Wolverines. Game time is 6 p.m. with broadcast time at 5:45 p.m. on WNEG.
