Habersham EMC Taps Interim CEO

Habersham Electric Membership Corporation is on the search for a new permanent CEO.

Back on Monday, Habersham EMC Board of Directors Chairman Hugh Rucker announced the resignation of Todd Pealock as CEO effective on that day.

Rucker’s statement Monday said Pealock resigned to seek other interests and opportunities, but was not specific.

In that statement, Rucker said the Habersham EMC board thanks Pealock for his many years of exceptional service to the co-op and wishes him the best in his future endeavors.

Then on Wednesday, Rucker announced that Jonathan Cantrell has been tapped to serve as the Interim CEO.

Cantrell has been with Habersham EMC for 12 years and has most recently served as Data Warehouse Program Manager.

Prior to that, Cantrell has also been Director of the Information Technologies Department.

Cantrell graduated from Piedmont College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and worked at Standard Telephone before joining Habersham EMC.

Rucker said Cantrell will lead Habersham EMC while the Board searches for a permanent CEO, a process Rucker says could take some time as they seek the best fit for the cooperative.

Cantrell said he is humbled by the opportunity and adds exceptional service will remain the focus of the company during the transition and beyond.

Habersham EMC serves customers in a six-county area, including Stephens, Habersham, and Rabun counties.
