Habersham County America 250 Celebration and Bell Unveiling

Habersham County is planning an America 250 Celebration on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Habersham County Courthouse, located at 295 Lewellyn Street in Clarkesville.

The event will begin with a patriotic ceremony commemorating the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and will include a reading from the Declaration of Independence, a Liberty Tree dedication and planting ceremony, recognition of the meaning and symbolism of the American flag, and the unveiling of a historic Habersham County bell.

Following the ceremonial program, the celebration will continue with family-friendly activities, games, food, and opportunities for residents to come together and celebrate our nation’s history and heritage. Planned activities currently include children’s games and activities, hot dogs, Kona Ice, and other family-friendly attractions.

As we begin planning this community-wide event, we are asking for your assistance in helping us spread the word. We would appreciate any coverage, announcements, calendar listings, social media posts, or other publicity you can provide to help make the public aware of this celebration.

We are also actively seeking participation from local businesses, civic organizations, nonprofits, churches, youth groups, and community organizations that may be interested in hosting a booth, activity, demonstration, game, craft, educational display, or other family-friendly offering during the community celebration portion of the event.

Organizations interested in participating, sponsoring an activity, or donating prizes and giveaways for children are asked to contact Habersham County no later than July 2, 2026.
