Habersham Central sweep two games against Stephens County in high school basketball

Habersham Central swept two games against Stephens County last night in high school basketball at Mt. Airy.

In the girls game, Stephens County held the lead for most of the game, but with 4 minutes to go, Habersham Central took the lead for good at 42 to 41, and cruised to a 56 to 43 win.

The Lady Indians only score 3 points in the final period, compared to Habersham’s 22 points.

Habersham’s Nikerriah Brown led all scorers with 25 points.  Stephens County was led by NaNa Eades with 17 points.

Habersham improves to 6 & 5 on the season, while the Lady Indians drop to 8 & 4.

In the boys game, Habersham got off to a fast start with a 13-point lead after one period, and went on to a 63 to 49 win over Stephens County.

Malachi Dooley poured in 21 points for the Raiders.

Stephens County was led by Tyrece Mackie’s 14 points and Kenny Colwell’s 12.  Habersham improves to 5 & 7 while the Indians drop to 4 & 8.

Stephens County will be back in action Friday night at home when they host Hart County.  Airtime on WNEG will be at 6:45.
