GHSA Pushes High School Season Back to September

The Georgia High School Association Board of Trustees has voted unanimously to postpone the high school football season until September 4th.

The decision by the GHSA means that games scheduled for August 21st will now be two weeks later on September 4th. In other words, the complete schedule will still be played, only two weeks later. The regular season will end November 20th.

The move back will now bring the possibility of the State Finals being held the week of Christmas.

Fall sports that include softball, volleyball, cross country and cheerleading will remain on the current schedule.

The GHSA is still allowing full practices in football and the other fall sports to begin on August 1st.
