GHSA Proposes Six Team AAA Region for Indians

The Georgia High School Association has released the proposed region alignments for the 2020-2022 athletic school seasons.

As WNEG reported last week, Stephens County will be moving from the current AAAA classification to the AAA classification.

In the proposed alignment from the GHSA, the Indians will be in the same region with long-time rivals Franklin and Hart Counties, along with Monroe Area and East Jackson.  Oconee County will also move with Stephens County into 8-AAA to form a 6-team region.

The proposed region alignment is not yet final. The GHSA Reclassification Committee will meet next Tuesday to hear appeals from schools requesting a lateral transfer to a different region.

The last time that Stephens County was in Region-8 AAA was in 2011.
