Gainesville Woman Charged in Wreck at Jeanette Jamieson Intersection

Charges are being filed against a Gainesville woman who Troopers say is responsible for a wreck Tuesday morning in Toccoa.

It happened about 9a Tuesday at the intersection of Highway 123/West Currahee St. and Georgia Highway 17/365.

“The driver of a Kia Sorento was traveling north on Highway 17 and lost control of her vehicle. She slid across the median and hit the front of a Honda Pilot that was traveling south with the Sorento’s driver side rear door and quarter panel,” said Georgia State Patrol Post 7 Trooper Trent Kirchhefer. “The driver of the Kia Sorento was wearing a seatbelt, but was ejected. She was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with serious injuries. She underwent surgery and is in ICU. The driver of the Honda Pilot complained of pain and was also taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment. The extent of her injuries is unknown.”

Kirchhefer identified the Kia Sorento driver as Monica Thomas of Gainesville, age and address unknown.

Thomas has been charged with DUI, Driving too Fast for Conditions, Failure to Maintain Lane, and No Proof of Insurance.
