Funeral service for NGTC President Mark Ivester will be today

Funeral services for Mark Ivester, President of North Georgia Technical College, will take place this morning and will be live-streamed on Facebook.

Ivester lost his month-long battle with COVID-19 Saturday at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Due to the pandemic, the family will have a private funeral service today at 11 0’clock at the Toccoa First Baptist Church with the Reverend David Ritcey and the Reverend Andrew Ivester officiating.

However, the service will be live-streamed and can be viewed at: https://www.facebook.com/fbctoccoa/.

Dr. Ivester was loved and well respected in the community, and the college administration noted many will want to honor him, but the family asked for privacy and that those wishing to attend the funeral would do so virtually via the online link.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Tim Taylor, Mike King, Keith Powell, Woody Blasingame, Gary Butts and Janney Sanders.

Interment will follow at the Carnes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Brett Sanders officiating.

Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Dr. Mark Ivester was 57.
