Friendship Baptist to Host Pre-Thanksgiving Dinner for Seniors

The men of Friendship Baptist Church in Toccoa will once again be hosting their annual Pre-Thanksgiving Dinner for Seniors.

The dinner takes place this Sunday, the 18th at the Boys and Girls Club on Whitman St.

This is the 23rd year for the event and organizer Randolph Sherman said all senior citizens over 55 in Toccoa-Stephens County are welcome.

According to Sherman, the event has grown over the years.

“It started out as around 250 seniors, but now it’s grown so much we now serve about 1,000 dinners,” Sherman said. “The Men of Friendship Baptist started it. It’s grown so much the entire church is now involved in it.”

If you cannot stay to eat there or you would like to take a meal to a loved one, you can get a carry-out dinner, but you must pick it up before 1p.

Sherman said other churches in the community are assisting with dinner preparations, which begins Saturday afternoon.

And he says he’s grateful for all of the help.

“I’d just like to thank all of the supporters that really have been helping with this dinner for 23 years. I have great supporters and I really appreciate them,” Sherman said.

Sherman there’s always room for more volunteers.
