Friends of the Ritz Group Seeks Board Member Nominations

A new group designed to support the future success of the Ritz Theatre is continuing their organizatioal efforts and looking for new board members.

It’s called, Friends of the Ritz Theatre and next Monday, August 20th, the group will hold a meeting at 5p at the Ritz.

Former Ritz General Manager Keith Kozicki is the founder of the new non-profit group. Kozicki tells WNEG News that among other things, the group’s Steering Committee will vote to adopt proposed bylaws for the organization.

Kozicki says Friends of the Ritz is an added way to support the continued growth and development of the theatre by getting the community involved.

“It’s a great opportunity to get the citizens involved and have a say in the ongoing operation of the theatre,” he said. “The whole idea is to try and get a lot of different view points and interest in the community so that there is a buy-in and an investment that this is your theatre. This is another opportunity to reach out to the community to get them active and involved and feel like you’re a part of the historic theatre.”

Additionally, the Friends group is also looking to form a new board of directors and Kozicki says they are currently taking nominations.

“In the bylaws it calls for between five and nine board members,” he explained. “What we’re hoping that anyone interested in being on the board that they will bring either a 90-second verbal or written bio about themselves, the skills they bring to the table and what the Ritz Theatre means to them and why would they want to be serving on the board to help the Ritz Theatre.”

Next Monday’s Friends of the Ritz meeting is open to the public and anyone can attend, even if you did not attend the previous two public meetings.
