In softball action, the Lady Indians fell to Franklin County 5-0 on Tuesday.
A solo home run to left field by H McGee put Franklin County on the board in the top of the second.
Riley Walker took the loss for Stephens County Varsity Indians. The starting pitcher went seven innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits, striking out six and walking one.
Nyleigh Hutto went 1-for-3 at the plate to lead Stephens County Varsity Indians in hits.
The Lady Indians are now 16 & 3 on the season.
Meanwhile, in the final regular season game for the Lady Rebels, Ne’Oni Merritt collected three hits in three at bats as Stephens County Middle School defeated the Rabun County Middle School Lady Wildcats 14-1 on Wednesday. Merritt singled in the third inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the second inning.
The Lady Rebels got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Alana Thurmond doubled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, Emma Powell doubled, scoring one run, Kaydence Cheek drew a walk, scoring one run, and Paiton Allen singled, scoring one run.
A single by Powell extended the Stephens County lead to 7-0 in the bottom of the second inning.
The Lady Rebels scored five runs on six hits in the bottom of the third inning. Merritt singled, scoring one run, Payton Fowler doubled, scoring two runs, Zadie Mack drew a walk, scoring one run, and Lilli Ann Mata singled, scoring one run.
Wallace earned the win for the Lady Rebels, giving up three hits and one run over four innings, striking out nine, walking none and reaching her 200th strikeout for her middle school career.
Stephens County collected 17 hits in the game. Wallace went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the Lady Rebels in hits. Powell, Thurmond, Wallace, and Fowler each drove in two runs for Lady Rebels. Thomas and Merritt each collected multiple hits for SCMS Rebels. Kiya Morgan took two of the team’s five walks in the game, and the Lady Rebels didn’t commit a single error.
The Lady Rebel’s finish the regular season with 13 wins, 1 loss, 1 tie. The Lady Rebels are the number one seed going into the region tournament that begins on Monday. They will play at 4:45 p.m. against the winner of the 4 and 5 seed game in Hart County.
