Franklin signs with Piedmont University for competition cheer team

Stephens County High School senior Sarah Franklin held a signing ceremony last Thursday to announce her decision to attend Piedmont University and join the competition cheer team for their inaugural season.  Sarah is the daughter of Amy and Jay Franklin.  She has been a member of the SCHS Cheer Team for four years, serving as team captain the last two.  She helped to lead the squad to the Region 8-AAA championship and a top 10 finish in the state this past season.

Sarah says the opportunity to be a part of the new competition cheer program at Piedmont University caught her attention when she was trying to decide where to attend college.  “I’m so excited to be a part of something new.  I immediately loved Piedmont from the start when the coach came and talked to us in the fall about the new cheer program.  I knew a lot of colleges did not offer that, so I just liked that Piedmont was really close, and it was a really good opportunity.”

Sarah plans to major in exercise science at Piedmont University to become a physical therapist.
