Franklin Co. takes Game 3 over Stephens Co. 3-1 in Varsity Baseball

The Franklin County Lions claimed third place in the Region 8-AA  standings with a 3-1 win over the Stephens County Indians Friday night at The Reservation.

The two teams played scoreless baseball until the bottom of the fourth inning when the Indians scored the first run on a hit batsman, a single, and an error. Franklin County got three runs in the top of the sixth inning on a hit batter, a walk, a double by Kennedy Sawyer, and a single by Caden Cawthon.

Hudson Huff, who came in, in relief in the first inning, got credit for the win with Easten Gailey getting the save.

Landry Williams pitched six innings for Stephens County and took the loss, Noah Holbrooks finished out the game.

The win for the Lions gave them a 7-5 record and third place in the region while Stephens County fell to 6-6 in region play.

This week is the final series of the regular season and the Indians will be on the road both Monday and Friday against Prince Avenue in Athens. The final home game of the regular season at The Reservation is set for Thursday at 5:55 p.m. Monday and Friday games in Athens start at 5:35 p.m. with broadcast time Monday afternoon at 5:15 p.m. on WNEG.
