Football: Middle School Rebels Rally in Second Half for Win Over Habersham
The Stephens County Middle School Rebels football team defeated Habersham last Wednesday, 42 to 16. The Rebels trailed at halftime, 16 to 14, but scored 28 unanswered points in the second half to cruise to the win.
Stephens County’s quarterback, Kaiden Harbin, had 7 rushes for 181 yards and 5 touchdowns, one of those an 85-yard kickoff return.
Other offensive leaders were: Peanut Arthur, who had 4 rushes for 35 yards, one touchdown and a 2-point conversion; Dallas Hague, who amassed 5 rushes for 70 yards, a 2-point conversion, and 2 punt returns for 50 yards or more; and Kahvion Thomas who secured a pass reception for a 2-point conversion.
Defensive leaders were: Karunte Riley with 12 tackles and 5 assists; Dallas Hague with 9 tackles; David Hernandez with 5 tackles and 1 assist and Colt Foster with a fumble recovery.
Stephens County improves to 2 and 0 and will have their home opener this Thursday at The Reservation when they host Madison County at 6 pm.
The Stephens County J-V will play first at 4 pm Thursday at The Reservation when they host Jackson County.
Last Thursday, Stephens County’s ninth grade team lost to Clarke Central, 24 to 12.
