Fatal accident claims life of Clarkesville man

Troopers with the Georgia State Patrol continue to investigate the fatal accident that claimed the life of a Clarkesville man on Tuesday, in Toccoa.

According to officials, the wreck happened at 1:15 a.m. on Ga. 17 (Toccoa Bypass) at Ga. 106 (Mize Road).

Paul Beck, 57, of Clarkesville was driving a 2003 Harley-Davidson when he was struck by a Toyota van, driven by Pyar Khimani, 57, of Suwanee, that had been following too closely.

After impact, the Toyota came to an uncontrolled rest in the intersection facing north.

The motorcycle came to an uncontrolled rest facing west on its right side.

Beck was fatally injured in the crash.

According to GSP, the wreck shut down the highway for several hours.

The GSP Troop B Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating.

Charges are pending.
