Fat Boy uncovered, returned home

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office recently announced that a stolen 2005 Harley Davidson Fat Boy was recovered from a residence on Maple Road in Toccoa.

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley told WNEG News about the incident.

“Deputies received an anonymous tip that a stolen 2005 Harley Davidson Fat Boy was at a residence on Whisnant Street,” Shirley said. “Deputies went to the residence but were unable to locate the motorcycle and it appeared no one was home. Deputies, while checking the area, spotted a motorcycle matching the description provided to them at a home on Maple Road.”

According to Shirley, the bike was reported stolen in November of last year.

Deputies then contacted an investigator who then responded to the residence.

Shirley added that when the investigator arrived he was quickly able to determine that the resident had stolen the motorcycle.

“Through interviews the investigator was able to determine that Stevie Jackson Canady, 53, of Toccoa had in fact stolen the motorcycle and had been in possession of it since the theft occured,” Shirley said.

Shirley said that Canady admitted to investigators that he had stolen the Fat Boy.

Canady was arrested and charged with burglary in the second degree, since the vehicle was taken from inside a shed, he was transported to the Stephens County Jail.
