Family Connection Plans Fundraiser

A local organization designed to help children and families in Stephens County is holding its annual Fall fundraiser in a few weeks.

Family Connection of Stephens County is holding a fundraising event on November 1.

This year, the organization is doing “Are you smarter than a Stephens County 5th grader?”

Family Connection Coordinator Allyson Warren said the event will be November 1 at 6:30 p.m. at the Tugaloo Performing Arts Center at Stephens County High School.

She said it promises to be a fun night.

“We are having a family-friendly comedian come in, Danette Flint,” said Warren. “It is a chance to showcase how smart our fifth graders are.”

She said teams of adults will compete against the fifth graders.”

Warren said that money raised from the event will benefit many of the programs that Family Connection helps organize and coordinate in the county.

Those programs include the Read At Home Program and the mentoring program Family Connection helps coordinate in the Stephens County school system.

Warren said there is still time to register a three-person team to participate in the fundraiser.

Tickets for the event are on sale now and cost $5 for age 12 and up. Admission is free for those under the age of 12.

Those tickets can be purchased at a number of locations.
