LOCAL TURNOUT
A total of 710 Stephens County voters cast their ballot in Advance In-Person voting on Friday, Nov. 1, bringing the number of ballots cast at the Historic Courthouse in Downtown Toccoa to 10,681. Also, as of closing of polls on Nov. 1, 732 Absentee Ballots have been mailed out and 636 have been returned so far. There are 2 provisional ballots. Currently, there are 18,765 active registered voters in Stephens County, putting the county’s early-voting turnout at 60%.

Polls will not be open today. Polls will open for Election Day voting tomorrow, Nov. 5, at 7 a.m. and will remain open until 7 p.m. Anyone in line at the polling location by 7 p.m. will be allowed to vote.
All voting will take place at the Stephens County Historic Courthouse, 37 W. Tugalo Street in Toccoa.
Voters must bring valid photo ID, such as a driver’s license, passport, or voter identification card, to the voting location. It is not necessary for voters to carry a voter registration/precinct card with them when voting.
Voters who need assistance voting can bring a family member or friend to help fill in the ballot.
Early tabulation of absentee ballots will take place on Tuesday, November 5, beginning at 5 pm. And computation and canvassing of votes cast in the November 5 General Election will commence on November 5, beginning at 7, immediately after the closing of polls. Computation and canvassing will take place at the Stephens County Historic Courthouse, located at 37 W. Tugalo Street in Toccoa. The public is permitted to observe these processes.

In statewide election news, a press release from the Georgia Secretary of State’s office noted that Georgia voters exceeded the 4 Million mark on Friday, concluding the last day of Early Voting. As of the close of voting on Monday, 4,004,588 Georgia voters had cast ballots either by voting early or absentee by mail. With 55.3% turnout, Georgians cast 3,761,968 ballots during Early Voting, and 242,620 ballots by mail.
As of Saturday morning, 92 Georgia counties have exceeded 50% turnout. This is unprecedented in Georgia history.
During Early Voting in 2018, there were 1,890,364 voters who cast ballots. 2,697,822 cast ballots in 2020, and 2,289,933 cast ballots in 2022.
