Elbert County Downs Toccoa in LL 12U Tournament
Elbert County broke open a tight game with 8 runs in the top of the 3rd inning and defeated Toccoa 15-5 in four innings in the Little League district 7 12U tournament in Rabun County earlier today.
Elbert County opened the game with 5 runs in the top of the 1st inning, but Toccoa responded with 4 runs in the bottom of the inning to pull within one. After the 8-run 3rd inning, Elbert would add 2 more runs in the 4th inning and limited Toccoa to only one run for the final tally.
Out of the 15 runs scored by Elbert County, only 3 were runs batted in with two coming on a Layton Blackwood two-run home run. Elbert County was aided by 7 Toccoa errors and 5 batters hit by pitch. Elbert County scored 4 runs on Kooper Shaw’s bases loaded bunt and circled the bases due to two Toccoa errors.
Bentley Dunson and Brantley Fitzgerald had RBI’s for Toccoa and Dacen Crunkleton had two hits.
Toccoa will now play in an elimination game on Monday night vs. Hart County. Game time is set for 8:30 P.M. with airtime scheduled for 8:15 P.M. on WNEG.
