Early voting ends Friday

Time is running out for Stephens County residents to take advantage of early voting.

Anyone wishing to vote early in the May general primary runoff election has until 5 p.m., Friday, July 20, to do so.

Polls will be open today, tomorrow and Friday, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Bill Cochran is the Chief Registrar and Elections Superintendent for Stephens County.

Cochran is encouraging all registered voters to come out and vote, either through early voting, or election day, Tuesday, July 24.

According to Cochran, on Tuesday, the early voting period has been fairly successful.

Locally, Stephens County residents will make their selection for the vacated Stephens County Board of Commissioners post 4 seat.

The two candidates vying for post 4 are Republican candidates James Addison and Bryan Dooley.

In other races, Georgia residents will return to the polls to decide who will represent the Republican party in the race for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Secretary of State.

Democratic voters will choose their candidate for the State School Superintendent.

Cochran told WNEG News about absentee ballots.

Additionally, the deadline to receive an absentee ballot is this Friday, July 20, absentee ballots must be received, by the Registrar’s office, no later than 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 24.

All early voting is at the Stephens County Registrar’s Office, located in the Stephens County Courthouse Annex on Tugalo Street in downtown Toccoa.
