On Sunday, July 8, several agencies responded to a two-vehicle accident, near the intersection of Big A Road and Belvue Drive, shortly after 12 noon.

On arrival, first responders found a red 2016 Nissan Frontier, driven by Michelle Harrell Brennan, 52, of Toccoa, and a silver 2018 Ford Escape, driven by Ty Nathaniel Coker, 26, of Jasper, both vehicles sustained substantial damage head-on.

According to officials, from the Toccoa Police Department, Brennan, who had been traveling northbound on SR-17 Alternate, crossed over the center lane and struck Coker, who was traveling south.

After the vehicles collided, Coker became trapped inside his Ford Escape.

Responders spent close to 45-minutes extracting Coker from his vehicle; once freed, he was Air Lifted from the scene and was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Authorities were able to set up a landing zone, using Quality Foods’ parking lot.
