Drug Task Force Arrests Meth Traffickers in Banks County

Agents with the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office have arrested two Banks County men and charged them with trafficking methamphetamine

On Thursday August 1, 2019, the Banks County Sheriff’s Office and the Appalachian Drug Enforcement Office executed a search warrant at 271 Sims Harris Road in Gillsville, Georgia.

That search resulted in the recovery of approximately 68.1 grams of Methamphetamine and several firearms.

“The Methamphetamine has a street value of approximately $7,480.00,” ARDEO spokesman Trent Hillsman tells WNEG News. “The search and subsequent arrests were the result of an extended investigation and a collaborative effort by law enforcement agencies.”

Arrested were 36-year old Steven Whitehead and 23-year old Madison Porter, both of Gillsville.

Whitehead and Porter were charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine and possession of Firearm during the commission of a felony.
