Dr. William “Bill” Edward Lovett, Jr.
Dr. William “Bill” Edward Lovett, Jr., 78, Naples, FL passed away November 6, 2025.
Bill was born March 21, 1947, to Louise McKee and William Edward Lovett, Sr.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Vicki Guimond Lovett, sons William Ryan Lovett and William Presoton Lovett, and cherished granddaughter Daisy Rawls Lovett. Other surviving family includes his sister Linda Young (Stephen), in-laws Curtis and Sandra Shelton, Roger and Debbie, Guimond, Mrs. Robin Thurston, and many nieces and nephews.
Bill attended Auburn University, where his love for his Auburn Tigers made him a lifetime fan. After Auburn, he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (1972) from Emory University Dental School. He practiced dentistry for 15 years in Greenville, SC before moving to Key Biscayne, FL, and became the Clinical Director at the L.D. Pankey Institute, teaching dentists from all over the world. In 1988, he moved his family to Naples, FL to resume practicing his love of dentistry. He was a well-known restorative dentist for 28 years until cancer forced his retirement.
Bill was an avid golfer since age 10. He won the South Carolina State Championship as well as the Georgia State Championship. He played in the British Amateur Golf Tournament, the North-South Tournament, and won numerous club championships in Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida, including the Naples City Tournament at the Beach Club of Naples earning him the title of NAPLES FINEST from the Naples Daily News.
Bill was a dedicated and active dad with his sons, Ryan and Preston, always participating in their lives. He was an assistant coach in little league baseball and assisted the golf coach at Barron Collier High School.
Bill was also an entrepreneur designing a golf club, the Lovett Wedge, a utility club sold on TV informercials.
Bill was a loving and dedicated husband to his wife Vicki. They grew up together in Toccoa, Georgia and had known each other since they were three years old. They married in 1970 and had 55 wonderful years of marriage. Bill was truly a kind, loving man, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His big smile will be remembered by all that knew him.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at ALL SEASONS RETIREMENT COMMUNITY, 15450 TAMIAMI TRAIL NORTH, NAPLES, FL 34110.
