DPH Reports Large Increase in Positive Covid-19 Cases in Stephens County

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, Stephens County now has had 375 cases of COVID-19.

DPH had reported 333 cases for the county on Tuesday, but reported an additional 42 cases for Stephens County on Wednesday. The report still has Stephens County with six deaths due to complications from the virus.

Habersham County also had a large increase and is now at  813 total positive cases of the virus, and 41 fatalities due to complications from the virus.

Stephens County Hospital hosted drive-through testing this past Monday and the testing numbers are up with the last report from the hospital.

Locally, Stephens County Hospital and its facilities have tested 3,309 individuals for the virus.

Of those, 491 tests have come back positive with 402 patients receiving positive results, 2,477 received negative results, and 341 individuals are still awaiting their results.

Stephens County Hospital currently has seven patients hospitalized with confirmed case of COVID-19, and two others awaiting results.

 Stephens County Hospital will be hosting a drive-through testing site once per week (every Monday) at differing locations around town. There is no doctor’s order required, but they ask that you please arrive with an ID and your insurance card if you have insurance. The testing site will be open from 8am to noon on Mondays and the schedule is listed below:

  • July 20: Mount Zion Baptist Church on Whitman Street, Toccoa
  • July 27: The Pointe Church, 4387 Ga-17 Toccoa

In other neighboring counties, Banks County has a total of 160 cases and now three deaths, Rabun County has 97 cases and three deaths, Franklin County has 272 cases and one death, and Hart County has 125 cases.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 127,834 cases, of those, 14,102 have been hospitalized and 3,091 have died from complications of the virus.
